The 48th Glasgow Scout Group was founded on 20 November 1946.

The founding leaders of the Group were:
Scout Leader- Alan Yates
Cub Leader - Isobel Donovan
Assistant Cub Leader - Flora Brown

The Groups headquarters were originally in the halls of the Congregational Church in Johnstone Drive, Rutherglen. Here the Scouts remained until 1995.

During 1995 the Group agreed the growing numbers of Scouts and their increasing space requirements meant that the time was now right to move from the Church halls. The move itself was relatively painless in that it was only 200 metres further up the road.

The Headquarters of Rutherglen Divisional Guide were, at that time, virtually unused, yet the accommodation was second to none. The Guide Headquarters in Clincarthill has been the home of the 48th since.

The Guide Headquarters provides all sections with a far greater floor space, as well as substantial land at the front and back of the hall. Another major advantage of the Guide hall was the storage facilities that were available.

However having listed all the advantages the major disadvantage has been the increased contribution we have had to make to the maintenance of the hall. This we felt was a small price to pay.
